Let's get those factories back here. Textiles anyone? I have three brands that make apparel in the US that we use regularly. Only one of them makes the apparel from US materials in the US.

Lovin' people getting richer all over the world. That's cool, but our dependence on cheap labor in other nations will 100% come back to bite us in the ass.

At Squid Print we already had to get rid of a batch of shirts that were discovered to have been manufactured by imprisoned Uyghurs in China. The distributor claims they had no idea because they're using a network of suppliers they cannot control, nor are they aware of how their suppliers operate or where they source materials. The illegal materials were discovered because a brand using the shirt blanks tested the cotton. The happy ending is the bad press forced the distributor to find suppliers statewide.

If any investors are tuned in, these are things I'd personally like to see in the US.

1) Textile recycling - materials reused as mattress, pet bed filler, insulation, apparel, etc. - the textile resources are free and they are not enough factories to meet the need = excellent profits.
2) Solar panel recycling - turn the silicon back into a usable resource, plus copper, aluminum, etc. There is a machine that strips the panel that can be operated by one person safely. I've seen it, but cannot remember it's name. Usable panels can be rehabbed and resold. Good money. Not enough of these facilities. A lot of electronic waste being sent to Guana and poisoning the people dismantling things for peanuts.
3) The CHIPS program is a mess, but is kind of working? Anyway, lots of residual companies could find opportunity there to help get the ball rolling. Advertising, support for training, recruiting, sourcing recycled parts, import/export.
4) Making shit that isn't plastic. We have one of the strongest agricultural sectors in the world and I have to order biodegradable garment bags from a company out of Austria. This is silly. As of right now, I only know of one company that creates packaging out of hemp and sells wholesale, but the pricing is difficult to justify when you're a small operator.

The Fed is annoyed that the peasants just keep on keeping on. Let's stick it to them.
