1. Be human
2. Be honest
3. Make them feel guilty
4. Defy Trudeau and corporatism... The crazy broker charges may have been truckers' revenge thing. In which case, I'm glad I paid.
"It's rare for me to use such dramatic language, but Constance at Squid Print was actually amazing and provided such excellent customer service that I felt bad about how generous she was... the merch was crossing the border into Canada and UPS added an absurd tax amounting to 50% of the value of the goods. I couldn't believe it when I saw it, so I let their customer support email know. Constance got back to me right away, verified the details and covered the ENTIRE cost of the taxes, about $70, and wished me a good day.
She explained that usually the fees (can't recall if it was shipping or taxes) usually amounts to 5%, but that the route UPS took generated the extra charges and that she'd work it out with them for me and paid the charge in the meantime so the goods could be delivered.
I found out from our back and forth that they're a family run business and that's always something I feel good supporting. Their goods are very decent too.
Thanks again Constance!"
